Alexa Spinelli is a dynamic and ambitious mass media professional with a deep-rooted passion for amplifying voices and empowering individuals from all walks of life. With a recent bachelor’s degree from SUNY Old Westbury, majoring in Mass Media and communications, she has honed her skills in storytelling, production, and creating engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences. She firmly believes in the transformative power of storytelling as a catalyst for change, and she utilizes her creativity and technical expertise to create impactful narratives that give a voice to the people.

During her time at SUNY Old Westbury, Alexa was an integral part of the university's media production team, where she was co-executive producer for the media innovation center and OW news club, where her news segments informed and inspired the campus community. Through her adept research skills and keen eye for detail, she consistently delivered high-quality content that garnered attention and fostered meaningful discussions. Her passion for news production has led her to win two Media Arts Celebration awards for her producing and on-air reporting during her time attending SUNY Old Westbury.

Recognizing the potential of documentaries to shed light on important issues, Alexa sought to broaden her horizons by interning with a renowned documentary filmmaker Byron Hurt. This invaluable experience allowed her to gain firsthand knowledge of the documentary production process, from conducting interviews and researching subjects to editing and post-production. Through this internship, she witnessed the transformative power of storytelling and realized her true passion for amplifying marginalized voices through film.
